The World’s Best-Selling All-Wheel Drive Plug-In Hybrid SUV

Picture2

The world’s best-selling all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid SUV, the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid, builds on the success of its gasoline-powered counterpart with bold styling, advanced architecture, and luxurious features. But what sets it apart is Mitsubishi’s innovative plug-in hybrid drivetrain, delivering robust performance, impressive all-electric range, and the latest version of the rally-proven Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system.

Refined Updates for 2025

For the new model year, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid enhances its premium experience:

  • Heated front seats are now standard on all trims.
  • Panoramic sunroof and heated steering wheel are included with SEL trims.
  • Available in three trims—ES, SE, and SEL—with additional packages for further customization.
  • Drivers can enjoy up to 38 miles of all-electric range, an overall range of 420 miles, and fast charging capabilities on SEL and above trims. Using the CHAdeMO system, the battery charges to 80% in just 38 minutes.

The 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is an ideal transition for those moving from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. It offers the range and refueling convenience of a traditional gasoline vehicle, paired with the quiet, clean driving experience of an EV.

Adding to this is Mitsubishi's Innovative Pedal technology, which provides near one-pedal operation for seamless acceleration and deceleration. Unlike other systems, it maintains the intuitive low-speed "creep" familiar to automatic transmission vehicles, making parking and maneuvering easier.

Inside, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid delivers comfort and versatility:

  • Seven-passenger seating, a rarity among plug-in hybrid SUVs.
  • Enhanced cargo space, with up to 30.8 cubic feet when the third-row seat is folded flat.
  • High-end materials, including diamond-quilted semi-aniline leather on SEL trims.
  • The innovative design of the third-row seat allows for easy folding and stowing, providing flexibility for passengers and cargo alike.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Mitsubishi’s flagship model is the most connected vehicle in the brand’s history. Features include:

  • Standard 12.3-inch digital driver display and Apple CarPlay® (wireless on SE and above) and Android Auto™.
  • Available nine-inch touchscreen with navigation, SiriusXM®, and wireless smartphone charging.
  • Optional nine-speaker BOSE®7 audio system and a 10.8-inch full-color HUD.
  • Five years of MITSUBISHI CONNECT with Safeguard and Remote Services16 included on select trims.

Built on a robust platform developed with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid offers a solid foundation for confident driving. 248-horsepower, twin-motor system with 332 lb.-ft of torque, and motorsport-derived S-AWC all-wheel drive, designed for optimal traction and control in all conditions. The S-AWC system, perfected in rallying events like the World Rally Championship and Dakar Rally, brings proven reliability and agility to the everyday driver.
