In-car technology plays a pivotal role in new-car purchase decisions, with seamless smartphone integration and intuitive functionality often serving as dealbreakers for buyers. Despite this growing demand, many automotive brands face significant customer dissatisfaction with the usability of their in-car systems. Mitsubishi Motors, however, is changing that narrative with the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander. For the first time, the Outlander has claimed victory in the small/compact segment of the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Multimedia Quality and Satisfaction Study, a testament to Mitsubishi’s commitment to delivering an exceptional in-car experience.

Launched as a 2022 model-year vehicle, the Mitsubishi Outlander redefined perceptions of the brand. Its advanced engineering and technology features were designed to attract new customers, many of whom might not have previously considered Mitsubishi. Mark Chaffin, President & CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, shared: “From the day we debuted Outlander on Amazon Live—the first-ever vehicle launched on the platform—our focus on exceeding customer expectations through technology has been key to the vehicle’s success.”

The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander’s multimedia system offers a suite of intuitive features designed for today’s connected lifestyles, including wireless Apple CarPlay® and wired Android Auto™ integration, an available nine-inch multimedia screen as the central hub for connectivity, built-in theater-like sound from an available Bose® sound system, and wireless charging alongside multiple USB options (USB-A and USB-C) to ensure uninterrupted device connectivity. Beyond multimedia, the Outlander offers advanced features such as MI-PILOT Assist™, which includes lane-centering, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam stop-and-go, and highway exiting, as well as My MITSUBISHI CONNECT™, which allows for remote start, cabin pre-conditioning, and safety alerts. The myQ® Connected Garage feature further enhances convenience by letting drivers open and close garage doors remotely.

The Outlander’s technology enhancements are reflected in customer satisfaction and sales figures. Through the third quarter of 2024, Outlander sales rose 5.6% compared to the same period in 2023. While many factors contribute to its growing popularity, there’s no denying that the seamless, user-friendly in-car experience makes a lasting impression during test drives.

The J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Multimedia Quality and Satisfaction Study analyzed feedback from 99,144 new-vehicle owners surveyed 90 days after purchase, evaluating the quality, design, and features of automotive sound and multimedia systems. Mitsubishi’s engineering excellence shone through, earning the Outlander top honors in its segment.

With its award-winning technology, sophisticated design, and commitment to customer satisfaction, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander exemplifies how in-car systems can elevate the driving experience. Whether keeping drivers connected on the go or simplifying the commute, Mitsubishi continues to raise the bar for in-car innovation.
