Mitsubishi Motors Expands Its Future Lineup with an All-New Off-Road SUV

Big news for Mitsubishi fans, and exciting times ahead for us here at Heritage Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) has confirmed that an all-new, off-road-focused variant of the Outlander SUV will be joining the lineup during the company’s Fiscal Year 2026 (April 1, 2026–March 31, 2027).

This announcement follows closely on the heels of Mitsubishi’s May 7, 2025, news that the brand will also bring an all-new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) to the North American market. Together, these two models highlight the strength of Mitsubishi’s Momentum 2030 business plan, a forward-looking strategy that promises innovation, versatility, and renewed excitement across the lineup.

Building on the success of the Trail Edition Outlander, this new off-road model will take Mitsubishi’s adventurous spirit to the next level. It will feature rugged bodywork, enhanced drive modes, off-road performance upgrades, and unique interior details designed for both comfort and capability. Underneath it all will be the latest evolution of Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, perfected through years of rally racing heritage and Dakar Rally victories, ensuring families can confidently explore beyond the pavement.

While details such as the name, design, and technical specs are still under wraps, Mitsubishi has confirmed that more information will be released soon. What we do know is that the future lineup is shaping up to be one of the brand’s most dynamic yet, with the 2025 Outlander already on sale, an updated Outlander Plug-in Hybrid on the horizon, and a new mild-hybrid powertrain debuting in the 2026 Outlander.

“Mitsubishi’s Momentum 2030 plan is already gaining momentum,” said Mark Chaffin, MMNA’s president and CEO. “We’ve set ambitious goals, and with these upcoming launches, we’re proving that Mitsubishi’s best days are still ahead.”

Here at Heritage Mitsubishi, we couldn’t agree more. As Mitsubishi continues to innovate with electrified performance, adventurous design, and modern technology, we’re proud to bring that excitement to our drivers across Morrow, Atlanta, Stockbridge, and the surrounding areas.

The 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback Is Almost Here, and It Delivers

The moment Mitsubishi fans have been waiting for is about to arrive. The 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback, an all-new fully electric SUV, is launching in the U.S. this October with a starting MSRP of $37,745. Exceptionally well equipped right out of the gate, the Eclipse Sportback offers just one available option, the Technology Package at $2,600, keeping the buying experience refreshingly simple. Powered by a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Eclipse Sportback delivers up to 282 miles of range on a single charge, making it a genuinely practical choice for daily driving and longer trips alike. Charging flexibility is built in from the start, with support for Level 1 and Level 2 charging via the SAE J1772 connector and Level 3 DC fast charging via Tesla’s NACS format, giving Eclipse Sportback owners broad access to public charging networks wherever the road takes them. The Eclipse Sportback is new, but Mitsubishi’s commitment to electric vehicles is anything but. The brand’s EV journey began all the way back in 1966, and has continued through decades of development, including the world’s first mass-produced EV and the world’s first plug-in hybrid SUV. The Eclipse Sportback is the latest and most significant chapter in that long history of electrification. The Eclipse Sportback is a central piece of Mitsubishi’s Momentum 2030 business plan, which charts a clear course for the brand’s future in North America across four key pillars: electrification, a renewed and expanded product lineup, a modernized retail model, and network growth. As part of this plan, Mitsubishi has committed to introducing at least one new or completely refreshed vehicle every year between fiscal 2026 and 2030. Following the Eclipse Sportback’s launch, early 2027 will bring an all-new rugged, off-road derivative of the Outlander SUV, with additional new models planned beyond that. In a significant announcement for truck fans, Mitsubishi also intends to re-enter the pickup truck segment in North America through its collaboration with Nissan, further expanding the brand’s presence in the market. One of the things that makes Mitsubishi’s approach so compelling is the breadth of powertrain choices available across the lineup. From traditional gasoline engines to mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and now pure battery-electric options, Mitsubishi recognizes that no two customers are the same and offers the technology to match every lifestyle and preference. 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback

The Eclipse Is Back — and It's Electric

Mitsubishi has just pulled back the curtain on one of its most exciting reveals in years. The 2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback has been officially unveiled, and it marks a major milestone for the brand: a fully electric, sporty subcompact SUV that carries one of Mitsubishi's most iconic nameplates into a bold new era. The Eclipse Sportback EV is being developed in collaboration with Alliance partner Nissan Motor Co., building on the foundation of the next-generation Nissan LEAF while introducing unique Mitsubishi styling that sets it apart as its own vehicle entirely. Distinct front and rear fascias that echo the rest of Mitsubishi's global lineup, unique lighting signatures, striking alloy wheels, and the brand's iconic Triple Diamond badging all combine to give the Eclipse Sportback a look that is unmistakably Mitsubishi. While the Eclipse Sportback EV may feel like a new chapter, Mitsubishi's commitment to electric vehicles actually stretches back decades. The brand first began developing fully electric vehicles in Japan in the 1970s, and went on to produce the world's first mass-produced EV with the i-MiEV, which arrived in the U.S. in 2011. A year later, Mitsubishi introduced the Outlander PHEV, the world's first plug-in hybrid SUV, which came to North America in 2018. The Eclipse Sportback EV is the natural next step in that long and proud electrification journey. The Eclipse Sportback EV is also a key piece of Mitsubishi's Momentum 2030 business plan, which charts a course toward a fully electrified, modernized lineup through the end of the decade. The plan includes at least one new or significantly updated vehicle every year through fiscal-year 2030. Adding to the excitement, an all-new rugged off-road derivative of the Outlander SUV is expected to arrive in early 2027 as well, giving Mitsubishi fans even more to look forward to in the months ahead. The 2027 Eclipse Sportback EV is expected to reach North American dealerships in the second half of this year. Full technical details, pricing, and availability will be announced in the near future, and we will keep you updated every step of the way. Stay tuned to Heritage Mitsubishi for the latest news on the Eclipse Sportback EV and the rest of Mitsubishi's exciting lineup. We would love to help you be among the first to experience it when it arrives.
