Big Differences

The two models have some big differences. One of the biggest is that the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander is 4WD and the Nissan Rogue is front-wheel drive for the base trim. The added capability allows you to tackle slippery surfaces with more confidence. Another major distinction between the two is three rows of seating for the Outlander with room for seven and two rows for the Rogue to seat five. At the same time, the Mitsubishi SUV offers similar efficiency as the Rogue. The Outlander wins again with an impressive warranty of five years or 60,000 miles over the 3-year/36,000-mile warranty of the Rogue.

Power and Versatility

Both the Mitsubishi and Nissan SUVs offer peppy performance on the highway with exceptional fuel economy. The Outlander is powered by a plug-in hybrid 2.4L I4 engine, which cranks out 248 horsepower over the 201 horsepower of the Rogue’s 1.5L I3 Turbo engine. The Mitsubishi engine provides up to 332 lb.-ft of torque over 225 lb.-ft for the Nissan model. The Outlander can also run on electric only up to 38 miles, which is enough to drive around town for errands without using any fuel.

Safety and Convenience

Mitsubishi and Nissan take safety seriously, including basic safety features on all trims. A prime example is the blind spot system, which helps detect when a vehicle is in your way as you move into another lane. Both models have rearview cameras as standard, but the Outlander includes a surround view camera on all trims to give you a more complete picture. Adaptive Cruise Control is standard on the Outlander but available as an option on the Rogue. The same it true of remote engine start while both models include parking sensors for added safety when fitting into a parking space.

Comfort and Function

Both the Outlander and the Rogue offer numerous options to enhance your driving experience. Many of them aren’t standard, such as cooled seats, memory function, and a power passenger seat. However, the Mitsubishi Outlander includes heated front seats on all models with multiple levels of heating. Bucket seats are standard for both SUVs with bench seating for the second rows. The Outlander features dual-zone climate control on all trims while the Rogue uses manual temperature control on the base trim. You can add a heated steering wheel to either model to take the chill off your hands in cool weather. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on both SUVs across the line.
