Last month, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid SUV and Mirage subcompact were honored with two of Money’s Best Autos of 2023 awards. Adding to the list of awards, Mitsubishi Motors’ flagship Outlander Plug-in Hybrid earned the Money’s Best for Safety honor in the Plug-in Hybrid SUV category, and the 2023 Mirage took top honors for Best Value for a subcompact car. If safety is at the top of your list, the Outlander PHEV holds all the cards. If you’re looking for the most economical and fuel efficient vehicle, the Mirage is the perfect pick for any budget.

The safety category included assessments that focused on standard and additional safety features for each vehicle. This includes features such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. These tests also included the performance of headlights in independent scenarios.

Depending on trim level, Outlander Plug-in Hybrid also offers: Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW), Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Lane Departure Warning and Prevention (LDW & LDP), Driver Attention Alert, Rear Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic High Beam (AHB), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) and a Multiview Camera system.

To evaluate price and value, the publication took into account the vehicle’s starting price along with each trim level that offers the best value and cost of ownership. Utilizing data from Kelley Blue Book, including depreciation and residual value over time, insurance costs, reliability, and likely cost of repairs.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is the most fuel-efficient, non-hybrid, gas powered new car sold in America. With a recent redesign that included exterior styling and upgraded technology, you’ll find the perfect blend of design, enhanced safety, versatility, and value.

“Both the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid and Mirage nameplates are worthy of the recognition they have received in recent years in the categories of safety and value, respectively,” said Mark Chaffin, President and CEO, MMNA. “Outlander Plug-in Hybrid’s mission is to introduce a road to electrification for e-curious families while we offer Mirage as a first or next automotive purchase with value top of mind. With a host of advanced safety systems offered as standard on both models, we continue to pioneer the industry with forward-thinking approaches at all price points.”
